Standout Season for Sophia on the Golfing Circuit
Congratulations to Year 9 Columba student, Sophia, who has had a promising year of golf playing for the Otago Women's Team and competing at the National Women's Golf Championships where she produced some great results!
Year 9 Columba student, Sophia, has been part of the Otago Women's Representative Golf Team this season and has been displaying some amazing golf skills on the greens! Recently at the NZ Women's National Golf Tournament in Wellington, Sophia played extremely well and helped her Otago team to make it through to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they lost this match against Northland; however, it was a great tournament overall for this talented group of female golfers.
Sophia worked hard throughout the tournament all week, and the Otago golf team manager praised Sophia's strong mentality and resilience in her first national tournament. After completing the National Tournament, Sophia will go to Auckland for the opportunity to receive some additional training for two months to further develop her golf skills. Sophia reports that being part of the National Tournament was very exciting and gave her a great opportunity to improve her golfing ability.
Columba College is incredibly proud of Sophia and her progression in the technical and competitive world of golf. We have a good feeling about how far Sophia will go in her chosen sport, and encourage her to set her sights high! Ka pai, Sophia!
