Representative Honours for Columba Volleyball Players

Mrs G Beardmore —

Columba College continues to shine on the Volleyball court, with three senior Columba students representing Otago at the Lower South Island Volleyball tournament recently.

Sophie Tizard, Amelia Hollows and Ryan Dailey represented Otago, playing in the Lower South Island Volleyball tournament on September 17-18 in Invercargill. The Otago U17 team was certainly impressive across the weekend, with the team completing a perfect tournament winning every game without losing a single set. Outstanding result - well done, Otago!

Sophie, Amelia and Ryan were then joined by Bayfield High School student Bree Gillan, and entered the beach volleyball tournament that followed on the Sunday afternoon. They started the day with a couple of losses but adapted quickly, came back and won their semi finals, finishing 1st (in the indoor champs) and 2nd (in the beach champs)! It was an absolute pleasure having the girls on the team and Volleyball Otago is looking forward to having a number of players from Columba College joining representative teams next year.

Thank you to Brett Dailey for this article and the attached photos. A big congratulations to all Volleyball players involved in the tournament.
