Today, as part of their topic on Human Survival, Year 10 Science were very fortunate to be able to go on an online field trip to the Cardiology Department of Dunedin Hospital.

Poppy Edmond's father, Consultant Cardiologist Dr John Edmond guided the whole class around. We had the chance to view the actual rooms where patients undergo diagnostic testing and treatments for heart conditions. It was fascinating to see how the highly technical equipment is used to help doctors gain a better understanding of structural and functional disorders of the heart and blood vessels, and how devices like pacemakers are inserted.

We are very grateful to Dr Edmond for being such a fascinating tour guide.
