Year 10 City Escape to Wellington

Olivia Charles, Georgia Wong, Madi Loudon —

The Wellington trip was a great way to finish the school year for Year 10!

Two groups of students flew up to Wellington: the first from 21 - 23 November and the second from 26 - 28 November. Some highlights from the trip were: waka paddling, where we learned how to paddle a waka and the chants that helped us to do this.

Another favourite was the visit to the National War Memorial where we went to the Great War exhibition. We learned about dazzle camouflage, where planes and tanks would be painted in bright colours so that they would not be seen in the black and white aerial imagery. We also learned about ‘The Battalion Of Death’, an all-women Russian group made up of over 6,000 members who fought in the Great War.

Despite it being a city camp, we did walk over 15 kms each day! We really enjoyed our time together and we made lots of great memories. Thank you to Ms Riethmaier and Mrs Riepl who organised this trip. We are very grateful.
