The Year 0-1 Peter Rabbit Trip at Finestere, Mosgiel
Wow! What an enchanted day Wednesday the 18th of November was for the Year 0-1 class and parents.
The children set off from Columba with their favourite soft toy for a day of surprises, adventure and endless fun. After the most delicious Peter Rabbit themed morning tea and a huge table of other tasty treats, the class had bundles of fun and laughter rotating around stations. This included Granny’s bloomers obstacle course, sack races, tug of war, croquet, go fish, egg and spoon races, trailer rides and of course famous Peter Rabbit stories from Mrs Theis.
Special guests Mrs Duthie and Ms Riethmaier arrived to join in the excitement. Lunch was delivered in boxes for the children containing chicken nuggets, a hot dog and yummy chips, and a range of tasty Chinese dishes was set out for the adults to enjoy. Next on the agenda, after meeting Harriet’s horses, we went on a walk through a charming garden with quaint bridges and little rabbit scenes scattered throughout. Soon we were collecting beautifully wrapped presents for everyone! Each child was presented with their own special rosette, a hand painted Christmas bag (made by Harriet) and many surprise goodies to take home. At the end of the day, we used a bat to hit a hanging piñata filled with even more sweet treats.
A special thank you to Justine and Jeremy Byfield, their daughter Harriet, and son Guy for sharing their beautiful property with us and for all the work they did in preparing this magical day. The garden was spectacular and everywhere we went, there were little wonders to be found. Thank you also to Nicolette North for the stunning gift wrapping of the treasure hunt gifts. Lastly, I would also like to acknowledge Amy Columb, Chelsea White and Sally Choie for leading the most amazing group of Year 0-1 parents and making this day a fairy tale for all who attended, and a day to remember.
