Rowing 2021

Mrs C Sinclair —

High high tides, exceptionally low tides, rowing in the dark, spotting satellites, avoiding ships - our rowers have experienced a range of environments this term.

Rowing is well underway at Columba. The senior rowers have been helping the new rowers learn how to row by rowing with them in eights and fours in the early hours of the morning.  They have experienced tides so low that they have had to walk their boat out in the mud and tides so high that it has been challenging to get the boat in without the water right up their legs.

With daylight savings starting, it is dark when they get on the water. This has meant witnessing the large moon, satellites and beautiful sunrises. Regattas get underway next term and the rowers look to be well prepared.

If you are interested in learning to row please contact Mrs Sinclair: csinclair@columbacollege.school.nz.
