This week, the Columba A Senior Debating team won the final of the Dunedin Schools Debating Competition against a formidable OGHS team. The motion was "This house proposes a world where the USSR landed on the moon before the USA." The atmosphere was intense at times but both sides were gracious in their victory and defeat. 

In addition, Sophie was awarded 3rd top speaker across the whole competition, Clara was awarded Most Promising Speaker and 4th top speaker, and Zoe was awarded 7th top speaker.

The Columba A Junior Debating team were runners up in their final against the top OBHS team. They did exceptionally well considering they only had two people in their team against three in the OBHS team. The best speaker for the whole competition was Emily and her teammate Isabella was 8th. Holly from the Columba B team was awarded 9th best speaker.
