Rowing

Miss E Foley —

Since 2016 the Columba College Rowing team has received one gold, three silvers and four bronze medals at national level, plus a number of A finals with crews finishing in the top seven.

These are impressive results, especially at a national level. Maadi Cup is the biggest secondary school competition in New Zealand with an entry level of more than 2000 secondary school rowers each year. The Columba College Rowing team is fortunate to have two extremely good coaches, who help the team to achieve at a high level year in and year out. One of these coaches is a selector for the U18 South Island team, has coached for the U18 South Island team, and sits on both the Otago Rowing Association board and the New Zealand Rowing Association board. Not only is our school fortunate to have excellent coaches, but also a fantastic environment surrounding the club, creating a very close group of girls involved in rowing from Year 9 to 13. We are confident that, if asked, every single student involved in rowing at Columba would say that the sport has had a positive influence on their life, encouraging organisation, fitness, health, happiness and open-mindedness. Rowing is for anyone from Year 9 - 13, and offers some wonderful opportunities to get some epic sunrise pics in Dunedin, Twizel and Karapiro - what’s not to love about Rowing at Columba?
