The Rainbow Youth group is passionate about social justice and inclusivity.

The group’s mission is to:

-Create a safe space where people feel supported

-Raise awareness and engage in education of LGBTQIA+ ideas and issues

-Promote inclusivity for all identities

-Ensure that people do not need to advocate for their identity (they can just be themselves)

This year, the group was able to run a bake sale in Term 2 where all funds raised were donated to Gender Minorities Aotearoa, a NZ-based, nationwide, non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting our gender-diverse citizens.

We also celebrated National Schools Pride Week where we ran an art competition, a form-class educational Kahoot competition, a creative writing workshop and entered the InsideOUT library display competition. These activities all help to raise awareness and promote inclusivity for youth at Columba College.
