Scholarship breakfasts are back!

Ms K Evans - August 4, 2023

What a great turn out to the first scholarship breakfast in some years, despite the very busy week for many.

Here is a chance for students to shine in subjects they are passionate about, even before year 13! We talked about the merits of giving NCEA scholarship a go, in particular how it can be life changing getting into your favourite subjects in real depth before tertiary study. Aside from this, the economic incentive of achieving Scholarship is high, both with NZQA financial awards and universities looking very favourably on those who have NCEA Scholarships on their records. Mrs Graves talked about the Sciences from her many years of experience in this area. Miss Murray and I discussed the Arts and Humanities. Every other week we will meet for breakfasts, with Spelt baking generously provided by an anonymous donor who has a passion to see our best academically extended and fulfilled. Our future focus will be breaking into groups for those doing the same subjects to compare notes on the tutorials they are getting to share ideas.
