Year 6 Science Experiments

Mrs J Crump —

The Year Six class have been busy learning about the process of the scientific method. First, the students discovered by trial and error how to get a balloon car to travel the furthest. The students used toilet rolls, skewers, straws, balloons, cardboard, and tape to construct their Balloon Cars.

Then they learned about the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which states that 'every action has an equal and opposite reaction.' This law was demonstrated in the balloon cars when the air from inside the balloon blew out in one direction causing the car to move in the opposite direction. Many hypotheses were written, but only some hypotheses were proved correct. Much learning and fun was had during this science experiment.
