On Friday, 16th September, 2022 the annual Columba College Golf tournament was held at stunning St. Clair golf course, and a superb day of community connection and contribution was experienced by all involved. The Columba Sports Council would like to extend a huge amount of thanks and appreciation to the community for supporting this fundraising event.

While the day dawned rather grey and cool, it did not take long for the warmth of community and generosity to outshine the weather, as golfers (and non-golfers alike!) gathered for this important fundraising event in the school calendar.

32 teams of golfers had signed up for a day of community competition and camaraderie. Play got underway at 10.30am and all teams enjoyed a brilliant day of ambrose golf, with rolling hospitality throughout the day provided by two on-course tents, offering delicious BBQ delights and refreshments. Fresh sausages, meat patties, and bacon sandwiches were generously supplied by a number of Columba farming families.

The day concluded with a shared meal in the clubhouse, fun conversation and connection, multiple raffle draws, and a live auction that raised a fantastic amount of money for our school. While one golfer came within a few feet of claiming the exceptionally stylish electric car (Brand New BYD Atto3!), the hole-in-one prize went unclaimed this year but the buzz around the possibility was brilliant!   

Golf Day 2022 was a wonderful success and we hope everyone enjoyed being part of the event as much as we enjoyed hosting it. Whether you signed up to be part of a team, sponsored a hole on the course, donated team prizes, auction items or raffles, or generously bid at auction time, we are very thankful for your support and valued contribution to our school. We know many of you did a combination of the above, and for that we are truly grateful. 

Thank you also to all our amazing sponsors, local businesses who generously put up their hand to support our fundraising event, and to all those who offered practical help to run the day - we thank you! Community spirit and connection at its finest! Your contribution has been humbling, and the Columba College Sports Council is already looking forward to welcoming you all on the greens again next year!
