Poetry in the Library
World Poetry day is next Friday 25 August. Why not try your hand at Found Poetry? Blackout Poetry? Or submit an entry to our annual Haiku competition?
Found Poetry
There will be two sessions running next week with our HOD of English, Mrs Montgomerie. This is a great time to try something new.
Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes 1:00-1:30pm in the library
Blackout Poetry
This was a big hit last year and there were some amazing works of art on display.
During class time in the library or see Dr George for some extra pages.
Annual Haiku Competition
Open to all students, please submit your haiku poems to Dr George by 4:00 Thursday 24 August.
Check out this article if you're not sure how to write a haiku.
Winners will be announced on Poetry Day, 25 August.
Aren't sure if poetry is for you? Why not take a chance and read something new. Not sure where to start? Most poetry in libraries is in the nonfiction section. As many poems were factual, they were classed as nonfiction during the introduction of the Dewey Decimal System.
Visit the library at any time and we can show you where the poetry is. I'm sure there is something for everyone!
