Week 2 of Lockdown and School Holidays

Mrs Duthie —

Dear parents, caregivers, staff and students

I hope everyone is staying safe in their bubble.

It will be a very different Easter break for all of us.

I’m preparing to move on from my great successes (well two) at baking into the realm of hairdressing. If she’ll let me, I’ll post my daughter’s new colour as she moves from blonde to brunette!

However, as Dr Macleod reminds us please also spare some time to remember the Easter message.

We start school again on Wednesday April 15. We will continue to follow our normal school timetable and stick to the schedule we set up at the end of last term for remote learning.  Should you experience technical difficulties, please contact smoore@columbacollege.school.nz Should you have any difficulties with your actual learning, then please contact your class teacher or dean.

The Ministry require us to take a roll during this period. If your child cannot attend online classes on a particular day, please email absences@columbacollege.school.nz or use the School App (before 9am) advising the reason, as you would normally. Interestingly, students are marked with an F for attendance during this time. The F standing for off site learning!

We are also waiting to hear what April 20th announcements will mean for the country in terms of the Level 4 lockdown status for New Zealand. We are also waiting to hear what a Level 3 status will look like for schools. As soon as this is clear, we will communicate with you. In the meantime, we will continue with our programme of learning.

I can only reiterate that we are very aware that these are extraordinary times and that each family’s individual circumstances will vary.

If you are facing any form of difficulty or feeling under pressure financially then please contact us immediately by emailing lhanan@columbacollege.school.nz or principal@columbacollege.school.nz

Remember to stay safe and kia kaha.
