Racing to Victory

Miss Turnbull —

Saskia Learmonth (Year 10) and Mara Bentley (Year 9) took part in the Rab NZ Rogaine Championships for 2019 which were held in Orangapai, Central Otago over the weekend.

Rogaining is an orienteering sport of long distance cross-country navigation, involving both route planning and navigation between checkpoints using a variety of map types.

In a rogaine, teams of 2–5 people choose which checkpoints to visit within a time limit with the intent of maximising their score. It is a useful skill that crosses into adventure racing - hugely beneficial for endurance athletes.

Our team of Columba College students won the junior section of the event, which is an amazing accolade for two talented young stars. Well done!!
