Columba College well represented at North Zone Athletics Championships!

Mrs G Beardmore —

The Caledonian was a buzz of activity on Tuesday 7th November as 40 students across the Junior and Middle school attended the North Zone Athletics championships. With all vying for a place in the Otago Athletics Champs later this month, the competition was tough, and our Columba students competed exceptionally well!

While the wind was brisk, the sun was shining, and 40 students across Years 4-8 from Columba College represented our school wonderfully at the track on Tuesday. Those who placed highly in their event have earned a ticket to compete at the Otago Athletics Championships scheduled for Tuesday 21st November in Dunedin. We are waiting on official results to come through from Tuesday's event, however, there were a number of students who won their respective track and/or field events in amazing style! For a school of our size, we are always humbled by the results our students achieve, and we would like to thank the wonderful families who work collaboratively with our Sports Department to ensure all our tamariki can access opportunities in sport!

Well done to everyone who took part on Tuesday, and a special show of appreciation to the parents and grandparents who showed up on the day to support Team Columba. Chloe Hawken, Kate Wellington and Melissa Shipman - Thank you for your fantastic help in coordinating and managing our young athletes throughout the day! A superb team effort by all! Good luck to those who made it through to the Otago Champs on the 21st of this month. We very much look forward to supporting you at this event.
