South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon and Duathlon Champs

Mr Potter —

On Sunday 3 March Columba College had 13 of our junior and senior students participate in the annual South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon and Duathlon Competition held in beautiful Oamaru.

Especially pleasing is the increasing numbers of our junior students choosing to participate in multisport - Triathlon or Duathlon. On a very successful day we had all of our individual and team competitors finish in the top 5 placings - an outstanding effort. Of special mention are Riley Piebenga and Caitlin O'Brien who both came first in their respective age group duathlon race.

Once again thanks must go to Mr O'Brien who is our team manager. Mr O'Brien's help with transport and guidance at these events really is invaluable. Also a big thanks to the other parents who helped out with transport up to Oamaru and who supplied the school with photographs.

Official Results were:

Girls Senior Triathlon Team - 2nd - Zoe McCane (Swim), Sophie Gaudin (Bike), Megan Maslin (Run)
Junior Triathlon Team - 3rd - Emma Morton (Swim) Kayla Miller (Bike), Louisa Kotkamp (Run)
Junior Triathlon Team - 4th - Brenna Lyons (Swim), Madison Lobb (Bike), Grace Darling (Run)
Riley Piebenga - 1st Junior Girls Duathlon
Caitlin O’Brien - 1st Intermediate Girls Duathlon
