Student teachers at Columba
For the past two weeks, there have been six student teachers from the Master of Teaching (Secondary) at our school.
This is the first school they have been placed in, so they have spent their time seeing as many classes, subject and teaching styles as possible.
We have had:
- Ben Mills (History, Social Studies and Classics)
- Conrad Donaldson (PE, Health and Outdoor Ed)
- Gracie Vaafusuaga (PE, Health and Outdoor Ed)
- Quinn Hardie (Drama, English and senior English)
- Xiaoyu Wang (Maths, Economics and Chinese)
- Ruby Walton (Drama, Media Studies and Social Studies)
While they have specialist subjects, they have been looking at every subject. They have really enjoyed engaging with all of these things.
Sports day was especially enjoyable for them and with them. They all got really involved with every activity - especially helping with the Junior School events. Seeing activities in the Junior School is a unique opportunity that the other students in the Masters programme are unlikely to receive. They took full advantage of the opportunity. They were appreciated for their help as well.
The staff have enjoyed interacting with the student teachers and look forward to them being part of our profession in the future.
