Virgina International Tattoo 2023

Administration —

As school holidays began, Zara (Year 12) was stepping on to a plane to travel to Virginia, Norfolk, along with the NZ Dance Company to perform at the 2023 Virginia International Tattoo.

As they arrived in America, many long days of 13-hour practices, perfecting performances were carried out in temperatures mostly around 30 degrees. The dances were choreographed by two well-known teachers from here in NZ. This year's show featured 800 performers from eight countries, Australia, France, NZ, Singapore, Ukraine, the UK, and the USA.

The Tattoo is made up of Military Bands, along with different cultures from Dancing to Singing. The show ran for four days with six shows altogether.

Zara also performed with other dance members each day at schools in disadvantaged areas, which was a highlight for her. This experience was a most enjoyable trip and Zara has felt very proud to represent New Zealand.
