Wellbeing Under Lockdown

Miss Millie George —

A message from your Wellbeing Prefect.

Well, we certainly didn’t expect the week to end like this.

Lockdown is a time of immense stress, uncertainty and fear for nearly everyone. With less teacher interaction and far more independent work expected, it can also be a time of severe academic struggle for so many. Though, we need to keep positive. Keeping positive during a time like this is so hard to do, but we need to keep these things in mind.

  1. Our teachers and mentors are ALWAYS just an email away, they understand that lockdown and the learning environment it creates also creates a lot of hardship. Some people struggle to work in these conditions, and that is not a bad thing! If you ever need that little bit of extra help, never feel ashamed asking for it.

  2. The technology we are blessed with allows us to not only continue learning but also stay connected to those who mean the most to us. Being away from family and friends, even just classmates is such a hard task. Keep in contact with your loved ones and check in to see if they are ok. Lending an ear for just a few minutes of your day could mean a lot to someone in such a time of uncertainty.

  3. Take time for yourself. Though you may feel like you have no excuse to be lazy as suddenly everything is cancelled and you now have time to complete your school assignments, it is still important to take a little bit of time out of each day to rest and rejuvenate.

  4. Stay positive! Lockdown is such a tough thing to experience, but we have done it before, and when restrictions begin to drop, normality will slowly be brought back. However long we remain inside, just know that by doing so, we are both stopping the spread and, much like last year, ensuring the return of our everyday lives. I think that is something each and every one of you should be proud of.

I’d like to write a small message to everyone involved in High School Musical. Though it is devastating that our hard work has to be postponed, I just want to say how absolutely incredible it is how much we, as a team, have accomplished. Though Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were tiring, the improvement we as a cast made was amazing and each and every one of you flourished as performers. All we can do is stay positive and hope that someday, soon, we will be able to perform in three SOLD OUT shows. That alone is something to be proud of. You are an amazing group of people; never feel afraid to reach out to me or any of your fellow castmates if you are struggling after this devastating news. We’re all in this together, Wildcats ❤️

Have a lovely weekend, everyone - stay strong and stay safe.
