Swimming Sports - Annual Event

Miss A Biggs —

On Friday 21st June our annual Swimming Sports was held at Moana Pool.

It was a very successful day, and all those who came along and participated had a lot of fun. There was a perfect mix of competitive and fun events across the morning, including the crowd favourite Jump Jam!

The day was packed with house events, relays, amazing dive presentations, egg and spoon races and so much more. Our event started with house chants, and these never fail to spark friendly competition between our girls, which continues throughout the day. It was awesome to see waves of red, blue, green and yellow spotted around the pool and there were some amazing costumes on the day. Relay swimming races were a great way to end our annual event, and all participants had a lot of fun!

The Columba College swimming team was chosen from the competitive events of swimming sports, and analysis of the high level of skill displayed by our athletes. Every race was close, which made it thrilling for the non-competitive swimmers to watch. From there, our top swimmers continued to the Otago Champs Swimming competition and have recently placed highly at National level.

It was an awesome day that saw great results both competitively and socially in the water.
