Swimming Sports 2022

Miss D Turnbull —

Although modifications were made to our annual Swimming Sports event this year, a great day was had by all who took part at Moana Pool.

16 students braved the chilly winter morning and dove into the pool for a 9.00am warm up. Swimmers were able to enter into the strokes they wished to compete in prior to the day, they were lined up against their own age group. This made for plenty of fun competition between peers and there was a high level of swimming talent displayed by our athletes.

200m Freestyle kicked the morning off followed by 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 50m Breaststroke and, finally, 100m Freestyle. Lastly, we wanted to keep to tradition and ran some relay races in mixed-age groups which had a nail-biting finish. Finally, the medley ended our event on a high with our senior team of Poppy Henderson, Emma Morton, Amelia Loudon and Ashlea Law narrowly missing out on the record but winning the race convincingly.

Many of the races were close, which was great for the competitors and also made for a thrilling watch for everyone. Congratulations to the following students who were the overall winners of their year groups:

Year 7 Winner - Alice Jefferies

Year 8 Winner - Isla Peddie

Year 9 Winner - Cameryn Smith

Year 10 Winner – Charli Sinclair

Year 11 Winner - Amelia Loudon

Year 12 Winner - Poppy Henderson

Year 13 Winner - Ashlea Law

A huge thank you to all our students for taking part and staff for their timing/management. Bring on 2023!
