Senior A Volleyball Success

Miss Jenna Paterson —

The Columba Senior A team have taken out the Premier Girls 1 competition for this term.

The team won all seven of their games beating St Hilda’s 3-0, Bayfield 3-1, Taieri College 3-1, Kavanagh College 3-1, Otago Girls' Sirens 3-1, Otago Girls' 13A 2-1 and Bayfield 3-1. This finished off an awesome year for the Senior A and was a great way to send off our three Year 13 students: Brianna Horne, Ruby Jary and Jenna Paterson.

This achievement adds to an already impressive track record for the team, with 22 wins and only 6 losses from four tournaments throughout the year, including the highly competitive Nationals tournament.

The team could not have achieved these great results without our dedicated coach, Will White, and fabulous manager, Dawn Hope. Thank you both for all the time and effort you put into the Senior A. Thank you also for making the nationals tournament so much fun and one the girls will never forget.

Over the last three year,s volleyball has grown in popularity at Columba and in 2021 had a very high participation rate with 16 teams (around 145 players). A special thank you goes to Mr Sparrow, the teacher-in-charge of volleyball – you have done an amazing job managing so many teams and always finding the time to come and show your support at our games.
