Contact Tracing Register

Mrs Beardmore —

New Zealand Sports Organisations (including School Sport NZ) are required to maintain a contact tracing log to identify individuals who may have come into contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.

As the beginning of the winter sports season approaches, the Columba College Sports Department has obligations to meet contact tracing requirements as set out by the NZ Government and Ministry of Health. This winter, all sports teams will be provided with an individual gear bag, which will have a first aid kit, hand sanitiser, team gear, log book for contact tracing purposes, and written instructions for coaches and management outlining our expectations around Health and Safety in the management of COVID-19.

While manual contact tracing of team members will be expected from all coaches involved in sport at Columba, a number of sport venues in Dunedin including the Edgar Centre and Hockey Turf, will be using the touch-free contact tracing register, iDMe. Therefore the Columba College Sports Department has decided to streamline our contact tracing procedures, and use iDMe for tracing students who use the gym and fitness room for team and individual trainings outside of school hours. We encourage all students involved in sport and exercise at Columba to log onto the iDMe website (www.idme.co.nz) to register for their own personal QR code on their phone. This unique QR code can be saved to their phone home screen, and can be instantly available for scanning purposes at sport venues around Dunedin. This is a simple and completely touch-free identification system, and works even when offline.

The contact details of each person who scans in or performs a self check-in (using a unique 5-digit venue code) are automatically added to a secure database that is accessible to the sport organisation. Each record includes the location, date and time of attendance.

We encourage parents and caregivers to log on to the iDMe website (www.idme.co.nz) and familiarise yourself with how this simple and effective system works. An iDMe user guide has been attached to this article.
