Music Success

Mrs S Casbolt —

Over the weekend two Columba girls had the excellent opportunity of performing at the Dunedin Concerto Competition, among thirty other competitors, many of whom were University students.

Angela Fu performed the first movement from Piano Concerto No. 23 by Mozart and Skyla Murray played the first three movements from Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole. Both girls did extremely well with Skyla winning the ‘Special Prize for the Best Performance of a Violinist (not selected for the final)’.

The finals will be held on the 7th of May, with the finalists being accompanied by the Dunedin Youth Orchestra.

The Columba College girls that were selected to play in the Dunedin Youth Orchestra this year are second violinists Angela Fu, Yuiko Yoshimura, and Grace Hill as well as first French hornist, Rita Close. Congratulations to them all!
