Our star Senior A Basketball team claimed victory in the Secondary School Competition on Friday night. Playing in the final against Taieri College Columba won 76 -62 in a tough-fought battle on the court.

Finishing the round robin in 4th place Columba was matched up against competition leaders Otago Girls in their Semi-Final. This game went back and forth with multiple lead changes before Columba stole the victory in the 4th quarter to advance to the big dance!

It was a seesaw match to begin the final. Taieri shot the lights out in the first quarter claiming a narrow 21-20 lead after the first 10 minutes. Some strong defence brought Columba back on top gaining a 42-31 halftime advantage. From here, they never looked back, gaining confidence as baskets started to drop. After 30 minutes, Columba had stretched their lead to 63-50 going into the final quarter to claim first place overall in Girls A Grade.
