Wonderful Wellington with Year 10 Group 1

Ms Bercinskas —

Stepping off a plane into a powerful northerly did not deter our intrepid travellers

Monday, November 18th saw the first 20 Year 10 students along with Ms Riethmaier, Mrs Riepl and Ms Bercinskas arrive at base camp, namely the Wellington Youth Hostel in Courtney Place.

From there the three days were a whirlwind (no pun intended) of activities, sightseeing, eating, shopping, and a lot of walking. Activities included: guided tours of New Zealand Parliament (including a Q & A  with Hon Dr David Clark) and Te Papa; an introduction to waka and te kainga; circus school; Weta Workshop; scaling vertical walls with a rope; exploring the Wellington Botanical Gardens; attending a screening of 'Jo Jo Rabbit'; and, sitting harbourside in the sunshine eating gelato  watching Len Lye's Water Whirler sculpture take on the wind.
