Water Polo

Miss S Gaudin —

Water polo is an extremely physically demanding sport requiring speed and strength as well as teamwork and a high level of fitness.

Our water polo players at Columba College are definitely up to the challenges that the sport presents, and we have players participating in Flippa Ball in the Primary Grades, right through to the Senior A High School Grade. In Term 1 this year, our Year 7/8 team won the local Intermediate Grade Competition - this is a huge achievement as we are the first ever all girls team to win this grade in the history of this trophy. The Columba Senior A Water Polo team have won the local Girls A grade competition for the past three years. This team has also achieved a bronze podium finish at the South Island Tournament the last two years. We are a strong, tight and very competitive team. We train once a week with more trainings added leading up to tournaments. Often Columba College also fields a social team, so there are opportunities to suit everyone and many of our players give back to the local water polo community by coaching and refereeing. Columba College Water Polo is highly competitive, yet balanced with lots of fun and enjoyment. Our school has a proud history of producing strong water polo teams.
