The Year 12 Geography class had a beautiful Dunedin day to travel to Karitane to complete fieldwork. The class have been studying coastal East Otago as part of their landscapes unit.

Their stroll down the beach involved sand sampling, testing porosity, measuring beach width and slope, as well as estimating the long-shore drift with the help of oranges being thrown into the surf!

Being able to see an environment that you have studied in class adds so much enrichment to their understanding and learning.
