Year 7 and Year 8 Chinese Calligraphy Writing

Ms I Ding —

Year 7 and Year 8 Chinese students have learned basic calligraphy knowledge, the correct posture for holding the calligraphy pen, and how to write a popular Chinese idiom. Students in our Year 7 Chinese Calligraphy class wrote “天天向上” which means "Make progress every day". Year 8 students wrote “和而不同” which means "Harmony in diversity".

There are 5 basic script styles in Chinese soft-pen calligraphy. Year 7 and Year 8 Chinese students have learned “Regular Scripts”. This style of writing is the most widely recognized style.

Students also developed hard-pen calligraphy writing skills and practised writing Chinese characters during our daily vocabulary time. Students chose a popular Chinese poem and they carefully observed the structure of the characters and then controlled their pen to write the words beautifully. Some students wrote two poems!

Well done everyone.
