Class Act 2022

Mrs E Harris —

Lily Ferro and Riley Piebenga received their Otago Daily Times Class Act awards on Thursday, 8th September

Columba College is exceptionally proud of these two young women. As well as serving as Deputy Head Prefects this year, they have each demonstrated tremendous commitment to and resilience in their extra-curricular endeavours. They are also conscientious students, impressing all of us with their ability to juggle school work, training, music/sports practice and their leadership obligations!

The Prime Minister addressed the award recipients at the event, expressing her own admiration for how they are able to achieve so much and even thrive amongst the challenges of a global pandemic and climate change - and all of this as teenagers! Lily and Riley are certainly shining examples of our College values and we would like to take this chance, as a community, to tell them, once again, how proud we are. As Year 13s, they will soon leave Columba and we will miss them when they do. Each of us who has had the opportunity to teach them in their time here is certain that they are are destined for great things; we can't wait to see what life has in store for them beyond school!
