The Dunedin Ice Stadium was ablaze this past weekend as students from throughout the South Island took part in the Secondary Schools Curling Championships.

Columba was wonderfully represented by the Year 12 team ‘Doves on Ice’ (Janey Gibbons, Niamh Paterson, Olivia Still and Liberty Vile), regulars in the local Wednesday competition. The South Island edition was a huge step up for the team, but there was an array of positives to take out of their debut appearance at this level – teamwork, tactics, and mile-wide grins were a feature of Columba’s play over the two days, and though yet to record their maiden victory in this tournament, the team is as determined as ever to make their mark on the ice.
