Columba Cricketers Named in Future Sparks!

Miss P Hopcroft —

Emily Brosnahan (Year 13) and Louisa Kotkamp (Year 11), both members of our school cricket team, have been named in the Otago Cricket future sparks squad (Otago women’s cricket team). This is the third year that Emily has been named in the squad (formerly known as the Otago identified players group) and the second time for Louisa.

The squad aims to teach skills, attitudes and values required to play cricket at the highest level and only 12 players are named in it each year.

Emily is a top-order batter and wicket keeper who has played for the Otago U19 team for the past two years, including captaining the team for some games.

Louisa is a medium-paced bowling allrounder who represented Otago at under 15 level in both national and South Island tournaments.

Both girls play club cricket in the boys' Secondary School Competition.

In cricket there are only six provinces in New Zealand and the Otago province is everywhere south of the Waitaki river.

A massive congratulations to both Emily and Louisa! To represent your province is an awesome achievement and we look forward to following you sporting journey with cricket as we are confident there will be many more achievements to come.
