A time capsule from the graduating class of the 2020 lockdown

Mrs Wafer —

Making memories, from our 2020 Year 13 class to future Columba College students.

For Year 13 students, their final year at Columba is certainly going to be memorable! But unfortunately, some of the usual Year 13 memories may not be able to be made. There is uncertainty around many events that they will have been looking forward to, and daily life as a Year 13 student may not look the same as when we left the school campus.

We want to help the Year 13 class make their final year memorable, and to leave a different kind of legacy for future Columba students to discover. We would like to create a Covid-19 Year 13 time capsule that will be buried when we return to school.

We would like every Year 13 student to contribute something small to the time capsule from their time in lockdown. This could be a photograph, a letter to future students, a poem, a drawing - something to show what life was like for them in these extraordinary times. We would like the Year 13 students to think about and perhaps begin to work on their contribution now.

Once we are at Level 2 and are back at school, we will collect all their items, and we will assemble their time capsule. We will stage a special occasion for all of Year 13 in which we will bury the time capsule, as a snapshot in time of Columba College Year 13 students during the 2020 lockdown.

We hope Year 13 students and their families will all support this special idea, and I look forward to all your poignant contributions when we are back together again.

Take care everyone.
