Annual Golf Tournament - Best Yet!

Miss Turnbull —

2019 was certainly one to remember for all who were involved in this year's event. Could it be due to the delightful weather we were fortunate enough to have? Or because none of the carts ever went flat on us? Or perhaps it was that we raised more funds than ever before? My guess is the latter.

Held on Friday 13th September at the St Clair Golf Course, the Columba College Sports' Council ran their annual fundraising tournament.  Despite the weather, it was an incredibly successful day with over $23,000 raised. And all those who participated even managed to end the day with smiles on their faces.

Prizes were presented to teams finishing in the top 13 positions as well as for the 'Longest Drive' and 'Nearest to the Pin'  for both male and female competitors. Raffle tickets were given to those who made it onto the green from their drive and for those golfers who did well in the putting competition. We also had options to buy a pro shot or a 50m advantage. These proved hugely popular.  Unfortunately our $15,000 hole-in-one prize has yet to be claimed.

Eight auction items were sold off at the prize-giving, totaling $8,550.00.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all those involved on the day or prior to the tournament. Especially to Kevin Galliven aka 'Gully' for his continued hard work and helping to make the entire event possible. Without the ongoing sponsorship from  businesses and volunteers from our local community, it makes it that much harder to provide our athletes with the facilities, equipment and uniforms they require to compete and achieve at the level they do. We appreciate the support immensely as it makes a difference to sport here at Columba and ensures our students are able to participate and compete at any level.

We now look forward to next year's event and of course the upcoming Sports Awards Evening being held on 24 October, at 7pm in the Marsh Sports Centre.
