Live Music in the Library

Mrs S Casbolt —

During Term 2 the Music department has been infiltrating the library with beautiful music from our talented school musicians.

We have been treated to singer song writing, piano music, violin, electric ukulele, acoustic guitar; this week, we saw an invasion of the three current school rock bands. The drumkit, electric guitars, keyboard, bass and microphones all looked at home snuggled up amongst the books in the senior fiction area. The library was soon overflowing with students coming to watch this inaugural concert. It was the noisiest the Library has been since, well, forever.

The Year 5 band, Highgate, played 'Past Life' by Daniel and Selena Gomez. The Year 6 band, Out of Tune, played 'Centuries' by Fall Out Boy.

To finish off, we had the winning Year 8 band, The Lil Pogchamps, from the Year 8 rock band class competition perform 'Your New Boyfriend' by Wilbur Soot. The Year 8s worked hard over Term 2 to form, learn and perform a song of their choice.

Look out for information next term on more ways to enjoy music in the Library, including play-along sessions on the ukulele and bucket drums.
