Physical Activity Leaders (PALs) Training for Columba Students

Mrs G Beardmore —

Another successful day of leadership training for students interested in physical activity and sport was delivered by Sport Otago at the Edgar Centre on Tuesday this week. Columba College had 18 students across Year 6 and 8 who attended the training day and learnt many new skills in sport leadership.

Schools across the Otago region are fortunate to be offered training days each year through Sport Otago for our young Physical Activity Leaders. Delivery of sessions to promote leadership, coaching skills and drills, skill development, teamwork, group collaboration, and adapted sport delivery, are presented to students in short workshops throughout the day. The energy and enjoyment exhibited by students and programme leaders is clear to see, and those who are lucky enough to attend this course come away with many great ideas to implement within their school and wider community.

Active minds and active communities! Thank you to all our Columba students who attended this day of learning so positively and enthusiastically. Your service to Columba College is greatly appreciated.
