Dunedin Schools Primary & Intermediate Triathlon

Mrs Graamans —

Our Columba Students had a successful day competing in the Triathlon, achieving success across the age groups.

A very chilly morning at Watson Park in Port Chalmers did not dampen the excitement and enthusiasm of our athletes.  Our Year 5 teams competed strongly and were rewarded for their performances, with our Year 5 girls team of Isabella van Aart, Ruby McIlroy and Ailie Somerville placing first. Our two Year 5 mixed teams placing third and fifth.

In the Year 6 teams the girls team of Rhianjali Giles, Ruby Nicolson and Lydia Hortop-Blair placed 4th.

In the Year 7&8 races, Columba was well represented and our Year 7 team Delilah Brown, Matilda Sutton and Alexandra Pratley placed 2nd and two of our other teams placed 5th and 6th.

Our Year 8 students had an impressive triathlon, Melanie Button won the Individual girls race and our Year 8 team of Lila Rhodes, Ciara Paterson and Charli SInclair won the girls team race.  Impressive performances from these students who won the Year 7 races in the same event last year.

Individuals and teams who placed in the top six of their event are invited to compete in the Otago Schools Triathlon Championships to be held in Balclutha on the 2nd April, we look forward to seeing our students in action at this event.
