Touch Troopers Triumph

Miss D Turnbull —

Yesterday was the final week of Touch for our Columba College Teams. They have had an amazing season and achieved some really great results across the board!

A huge congratulations goes to our Year 5/6 Girls Green Team this season for winning their final 3-2 against St Clair to take out first place in their grade. They have had a fantastic season this year, dominating many of their games and being highly commended by all opposition as well as the competition organisers for their sportsmanship. They are well-deserved champions for 2022.

Year 1/2 Orange team have been legendary at learning the ropes this term. Boasting some experience from Term 4 last year, coupled with a few completely new players who have given touch a go for the very first time, this team performed superbly, getting better every round. Well done to their two Year 9 student coaches, Delilah Brown and Lula Joseph, for showing this group how fun this sport can be.

Our Year 3/4 crew have been together for a number of years, from Year 1, and their knowledge of the game has grown significantly throughout the years. The ability to play the game against much older opposition and hold their own is incredibly impressive. They display fabulous teamwork week in and week out and are highly regarded by all referees for their listening skills, reacting to the calls with urgency and energy.

The Year 5/6 Navy Boys Team had a fantastic season, winning all of the games they were present for. Unfortunately, they had to default a couple of games due to illness and injuries but overall they completed a strong season of big improvements and exceptional skill.

Our Year 7/8 Green Team were also near the top of their competition, winning the majority of their games and having immense fun in the process. The skill development from the beginning to the end of the season was evident and the team camaraderie started flowing nicely.

The Year 7/8 Navy Team were an enjoyable team to watch this term. They have been practising a new structured version of the game and have grown in confidence throughout the season, challenging themselves while implementing all of their new learnings. Narrowly missing out on a place in the final, this team is hungry for more - look out Term 4!

A special mention to our Junior A Team who finished their final games on Tuesday. They completed their 8 games undefeated overall, scoring a total of 79 tries and only conceding 8 tries throughout their 4 weeks on the field.

Well done to everyone involved this term. Thank you for braving the wintry Thursday conditions and supporting our awesome athletes!
