Reflections on the things that have helped us

What helps you through?

Dr J Macleod —

Sometimes we get so focused on 'keeping going' that we forget to pause and reflect. In Chapel today, we considered the things that have helped us to get through this unusual year.

Psalm 34 has long been significant to me. David, who wrote the psalm, took time to reflect on the things that helped him through a tough time. He remembered to be grateful and acknowledged God as the source of the good in his life.

Today in Chapel, students and staff noted some of the things that have helped them through this year. Responses were written on sticky-notes and posted around the Hall.

I encourage you to take a moment to pause and consider the things that have been of support to you in this unexpected year.

Psalm 34:1-6

I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
Look to him, and be radiant;
so your faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
