Next Thursday Columba College will send five teams (37 students) to the Festival which is being held at the King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre. All five teams are entered in the Student-Directed Five Minute Category. This is a record for Columba College and for the Otago region. The five performances are drawn from Othello, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Antony and Cleopatra. Year levels from 9 to 13 are represented, with the largest team comprising 20 actors and musicians.

The directors and their plays:

Macbeth directed by Penelope Hare

Othello directed by Zoe Revell-Lynch, Arielle van Blerk, and Shelah Luckhurst

Antony and Cleopatra directed by Dana Wister

Romeo and Juliet directed by Grace Hill

Hamlet directed by Pippa Trotman

Winners go through to the Regional Finals in the evening, where they compete to win a place in the National Finals in Wellington in October.

We wish them all the best!
