Off to the Blueberry Farm

Ms A Mete —

Year 12 Agribusiness students visited Blue Willow Blueberry Farm last week.

To learn more about sustainability, future-proofing, succession planning, and organisms – in fact every topic covered in the Agribusiness course – the class visited the Blue Willow blueberry farm at Fairfield. The trip happened after the owner, Eric Johnston, came to speak to the class earlier in the week. His visit to the classroom was awesome as he has been in the industry for over 30 years and had a lot of knowledge to share with us.

The students loved being in the orchard eating blueberries and really appreciated Eric's insights and the afternoon snack. They were able to see firsthand the importance of future-proofing and the role different organisms play after a cheeky bird followed us in hoping for a sweet treat.

We are hopeful this is the beginning of a knowledgeable and fun-filled year within our Agribusiness programme.
