Columba is BALL'IN!

Miss D Turnbull —

Its been a great year for Basketball at Columba College, 2x Primary Teams, 1x Intermediate Team, 11x Social Secondary School Teams, along with our Junior and Senior A Squads this season has been one for the record books.

Our Primary Year 4/5/6 Team have played the entire season right through with many strong results and improving with every game. Whereas our Year 1/2/3 unfortunately have only played a handful of games due to level two restrictions but seem to be loving the mini-court experience.

With no spectators allowed throughout the majority of the season it has been a rather interesting year on the court. Our Year 7/8 Intermediate Team coached by Year 12 Student and Senior Basketball Captain - Madi Loudon, won their final against St Hilda's on Monday evening with a strong display of teamwork and skills. The camaraderie and connection throughout the 9 weeks of play was evident and it all came together towards the end of the term for the final few weeks. Well done!!

The Secondary School age group has been an eventful one to say the least with 11 social teams for Columba College playing across various Dunedin venues. Quality results from all teams ensured the 'fun factor' was at the greatest of highs many teams crossing over and playing against each other for ultimate bragging rights. Big Ups to Niamh Paterson and Amelia Findlater for being our gym controllers and referee officials throughout the season with help from a couple of other year 13 friends - we couldn't play this sport without you and appreciate the spirit/sportsmanship you provide to the side-line.

Finally this Friday is the "BIIG Dance" for the Junior A Basketball Team as they face St Hilda's in the Secondary School Final - 4pm Tip off on Court 1 at the Edgar Centre, the team would love to have as much support as possible from the school community as it is set to be the showdown of the season!
