Some of our students performed to a very high level in both the Australian Mathematics Competition and the Otago University Junior Mathematics Competition.

The girls deserve credit for their high performance in these competitions. They are difficult problem-solving type mathematics competitions, and each of the girls deserves to have received recognition for being in the top 5 to 22% of the competitors who participated - a great effort.

In the Australian Mathematics Competition, Charlotte Milne, Aliya Drake and Chaewon Ryu all received Distinction awards in Year 8, while Angela Fu and Georgia Wong received Distinction awards at Year 10.  In the senior divisions, Tessa Campbell, Allison LeBuffe, Ella Calder, Lara Seaton, Yuwen Wang and Madeline McCan all received Distinction awards.

Special mention must be made of Angela Fu's effort - which placed her in the top 5% of all the competitors who participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition. This really is an outstanding effort - well done Angela!

In Year 9 Maya Bromby performed outstandingly well in the Otago University Junior Mathematics Competition. She gained a Merit pass which was just outside a top 200 pass. Maya is an up and coming mathematician at Columba College and she has a bright future in the subject.
