Year 9 and 10 Drama

Ms Bercinskas —

Shakespeare lives on

Year 9 Ly Drama has been very disciplined lately as the class has been busy memorising lines from three of Shakespeare’s plays. They performed the ‘witches’ scene’ from ‘Macbeth’, both the ‘balcony scene’ and the ‘death scene’ from ‘Romeo and Juliet’, as well as the ‘handkerchief scene’ from Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’. The girls were absolutely brilliant and blew the socks off both sets of audiences who were lucky enough to attend.

The shows go on

Year 9 Be Drama has been very experimental of late with a raft of workshops and skits resulting in a series of reality television shows performed in the Caroline Freeman Theatre to years 8-13. From ‘Housewives of Maori Hill vs. Housewives of Mornington’ to ‘Blind Date’ to ‘The Cooking Show’ students have learned the importance of timing, characterisation and focus. A particular dramatic moment involved a lot of flour and raw egg missing the intended bowl and hitting the floor and actors. The result? The show went on! Well done Maggie and Tara for ‘adding’ it into the scene and continuing…covered in flour. Term 4’s focus is the 12 Days of Christmas ~ with a twist.

Checkout Chicks

Meanwhile, our Year 10 Drama class has been rehearsing like mad to get themselves up to speed for their musical….yes – you heard correctly….their MUSICAL!!

‘Checkout Chicks’ is a politically incorrect comedy written by Rachel Callinan with music by Julia Truscott about a group of people who work at a small supermarket called Shop’n’Pay. The gags and frivolity just keep coming!

So if you feel like having a really good laugh, come along to the Caroline Freeman Theatre at 7 pm next Thursday 8th November.

Special thanks to Fresh Choice for so generously letting us borrow their uniforms, trolleys, and baskets. And thanks also to Helen Li in Year 9 for being our amazing accompanist.
