Years 11 and 12 Speech Competitions
To top off what was a tumultuous Term One, the English Department hosted the annual Year 11 and 12 speech competitions.
Under the Orange Covid setting, our Senior School’s outstanding orators gathered together in the Caroline Freeman Theatre to showcase their well-honed speaking skills.
The competition was fierce in the Year 11 edition, with Monet Morrison’s polemic on the whitewashing of history captivating the minds of audience and judges alike. The Year 12s were no less engaging, with Skyla Murray’s stirring slam poetry only just edging out Elloise Cameron’s beautiful paean to Te Reo Māori, in what was a wonderful celebration of Columba’s public speaking prowess.
A hearty congratulations to all competitors - you left us with plenty to mull over during our well-earned break.
