Our super talented diving squad consisting of Sophie Derbyshire, Georgia Houghton, Bella Meek-Mallam, Jessica Penno and Cierra Ried, travelled to Auckland this week to compete in the Secondary Schools Diving Champs. We are excited that this group of athletes have been able to showcase their skills, and compete against the best in the business. Their hours of training, both in and out of the pool, is indicative of their dedication to be the best they can be come competition time!
Some outstanding results were achieved, with year 8 student Sophie Derbyshire achieving a second place overall in the junior category. For the Junior teams event, Sophie and Bella Meek-Mallam performed superbly together, coming out with a silver medal! What a great experience for our diving team. Well done Columba!
A big thank you to Columba Old Girl, Christine Wierda, who coaches the team. Parents Alison Derbyshire and Brad Houghton also need special recognition for all the hard work behind the scenes.
