Multi-Talented, Multi-Sport Athletes

Miss Turnbull —

Last Saturday a team of 9 students headed away to Queenstown for the Peak to Peak Multisport Race with a team of 6 and 2 tandem teams entered.

The Fast and Fearless Secondary School team consisted of Gemma O’Donnell - 2km ski, Siena Snow - 17km Mountain Bike down Remarkables to Frankton Beach, Madi Loudon - 7km kayak to Queenstown Bay, Rachael Turner - 9km run to Swiss Bell Resort, Arthurs Pass and Phoebe Ozanne - 9km Uphill bike to Coronet Peak. This team managed to come away with an outstanding 2nd place in a time of 3 hours 9 minutes.

However this is even more impressive due to the first place team having an adult in the kayak who was from GodZone. An incredible result from a very talented bunch of students, and something Columba College is very proud of!

Emily Prout, Caitlin O’Brien, Megan Maslin and an outside competitor completed the whole 44km race in the Women’s Tandem section. Caitlin and Emily finished with a final time of 3 hours 51 minutes, coming away with 5th place (out of 9 female tandem teams). Megan Maslin completed the race in a total time of 4 hours 12 minutes (7th out of 9 female tandem teams).

Well done to all involved and thank you to all the amazing supporters as it was hugely beneficial in helping the girls finish.
