Touch Rugby

Miss J Dinan —

The Senior A Touch team has continued its strong legacy to place 3rd at the National Secondary Schools Touch Championship in December 2020.

Following this, the team won the Dunedin Schools competition, and then went on to compete in the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament in Christchurch. There, they narrowly missed out on first place, leaving the team with some really exciting results to start the 2021 season.

Within Touch, at Columba, there is a strong team culture of family. Teams are divided by age group and we engage in fun activities and games to encourage bonding between players. Each player is allocated a 'sister' for support and guidance, which is especially helpful for new players. Our positivity and teamwork makes playing together so much more enjoyable. On the field, players can rely, not only on good teamwork, but on the encouragement and positive attitudes of their teammates too. All of the players are super dedicated and share like-minded morals towards their team, which radiates on the field.

At Columba, Touch begins in Yr 3 and is inclusive of all ages up to Yr 13. The talent and commitment of individuals coming up through the ranks is exciting to see. I definitely look forward to watching the teams do big things in the future.
