Melodrama at its finest

Ms Bercinskas —

'Bang' and 'Black Eyed Susan' overwhelm the crowds (and each another - well it is melodrama)

On Tuesday and Thursday of  Week 3, a double performance of ‘Black Eyed Susan’ and ‘Dynamite’, was performed, with both casts putting on excellent and convincing shows.

The cast of ‘Dynamite’ worked extremely hard to produce a clean and well-polished performance. However, with any show, there were backstage and onstage issues, with misplaced props and costumes, but still the show went on and the class came together to fix these problems and still put on a fantastic performance both nights. However, there were plenty of laughs, giggles and shock as the night progressed on, and each night, the two casts were met with loud applause and high praise from the audience.

The slick production of ‘Black Eyed Susan’ took the audience back in time, and convincingly sold the idea that they were truly living in 1829. The character changes were smooth on both nights, with some of the audience not even realising that the actors had changed! Again, there were moments of hilarity and confusion, but these were handled with regal aplomb...and lots of crying from the two Susans.

Finally, a huge thank you to our hardworking student directors, our set builder Ms Ward, IT specialist Mr Moore, our uber director Ms Bercinskas, and of course, our wonderful, interactive audiences.
